WSU Tennis Set to Host Cougar Classic

PULLMAN, Wash. (Sept. 25, 2025) – Washington State Tennis will host its lone tournament of the fall season this weekend as the 2025 Cougar Classic takes place Sept. 26-28 at the WSU Outdoor Tennis Courts.
 
The seven-team event includes host Washington State, along with Eastern Washington, Gonzaga, Idaho, Lewis-Clark State, Montana and Portland. The Cougars will have two players competing, sophomore Martina Puvill and junior Zali Morris.
 
The tournament will be held in a mini dual format. Competitors will compete with one teammate in the pairs tournament, where they will face another two-person team in doubles and two singles matches; the winners of two of the three points advance as a team in the bracket. There will be three draws, an A, B and C. The A and B draws will be an eight-team compass format draw, while the C draw will be a four-team round-robin.,
 
Matches will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each of the three days, with Washington State players taking the court for the first time at 1 p.m. Friday. Draws are expected to be done Friday evening.
