Cougs Take Down Seton Hall for Third Straight Win

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – (September 13, 2025) – Washington State volleyball continued its strong East Coast swing on Saturday afternoon, rallying after a close opening set to defeat Seton Hall 3-1 (23-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-15) at the Malkin Athletic Center.

The Cougars (5-3, 0-0 WCC) were dominant at the net, piling up 12 team blocks and hitting an efficient .339 as a team while holding the Pirates to just .188 hitting.

Mary Healy led the charge with 14 kills on .423 hitting and added six blocks, finishing with a team-best 17 points. Melina Christodoulou added 12 kills and eight digs, while Lucie Blažková contributed nine kills, four aces, and six blocks for a well-rounded effort.

The Cougar middles made a major impact as Kate Hayhurst hit .538 with seven kills, and Camryn Lingenbrink tallied six blocks. At the service line, WSU was sharp with 11 aces, highlighted by Blažková, Maddy Joswick (three), and Livia Ward (two).

Setters Italia Bernal (28 assists, 8 digs) and Ward (14 assists, 2 aces) kept the Cougar offense balanced, spreading the ball effectively across attackers. Defensively, Tinons Munar Galmés anchored the back row with 15 digs and two aces, while Joswick added 10 digs.

After narrowly dropping the first set, WSU responded with confidence – taking control in set two, grinding out a tight third, and then storming through the fourth frame with a 25-15 clincher.
