Lucie Blažková Named to WCC Preseason Team

| By:
SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Washington State volleyball redshirt sophomore Lucie Blažková was named to the All-West Coast Conference Preseason Team, the Conference announced Wednesday morning. The Cougar team was voted fourth in the annual WCC Preseason Coaches, tied with Oregon State, while San Diego was selected to win the conference.

The Czech Republic native is coming off her redshirt freshman season last year when she was named to the All-WCC Second Team and the WCC All-Freshman Team. She also hauled in a pair of weekly WCC awards, earning Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 11 and Freshman Player of the Week on Oct. 14.

Blažková made an impact on both sides of the ball in her first season on the court for the Cougars, leading the team in both attack percentage and blocks. Her 134 blocks on the year and 1.20 blocks per set ranked third in the WCC, while her 42 solo blocks led the conference by a margin of 15, and was good four fourth-most in a season by a Coug all-time.

The WCC preseason poll and the all-conference preseason team were selected solely by a vote of the conference's 12 head coaches. Coaches could not vote for their own teams and student-athletes.
