Cougar Baseball Announces 2025 Signing Class

PULLMAN, Wash. (August 18, 2025) – Washington State has finalized its 2025 incoming class, head coach Nathan Choate announced Monday.
 
"We are excited to welcome this new signing class to our program," Choate said. "We feel we addressed several needs highlighted by pitching depth. We are looking forward to getting back to work."
 
 
The following 17 players will join the program this fall and compete in the 2026 season.
 
 
Dane Chavez | INF | 6-0, 170 | Kennewick, Wash.
Chavez is rated the tenth-best shortstop in Washington by Prep Baseball and played for the WIAA Class 3A State Championship this past year.
 
 
Brock Cross | 1B/C | 6-3, 200 | Lake Havasu City, Ariz.
Cross is rated the third-best catching prospect the No. 16 overall prospect in the state by Prep Baseball Report after hitting .494 with seven home runs and 37 RBI as a senior this past spring.
 
 
Lleyton Daily | RHP | 6-3, 180 | Woodinville, Wash.
Daily is a right-handed pitcher from Woodinville, Wash. and played this past season at Chandler-Gilbert CC in Arizona where he posted an 8.28 K/9 in 25 innings.
 
 
Ryan Falke | RHP | 6-5, 210 | Greenwood Village, Colo.
Falke was rated the ninth-best righthander and No. 21 overall player in Colorado by Prep Baseball Report. This past season at Cherry Creek High School, Falke was named All-State first-team and All-Centennial League first-team after going 6-0 with one save and a 2.72 ERA.
 
 
Taber Fast | LHP | 6-1, 205 | Chehalis, Wash.
Fast is a transfer from Texas Tech where he last played in 2024 due to injury. In two seasons pitching for the Red Raiders (2023-24), Fast tallied 30 strikeouts in 42.1 innings. Out of Olympia High School, Fast was ranked the top lefthander and sixth-best overall prospect in the state in 2022 after helping OHS to its first state championship in his 115-year history, throwing out the potential tying run at the plate to end the game.
 
 
Joel Fernandez | Catcher | 6-0, 200 |  Yakima, Wash.
Fernandez is a catcher out of Pierce College where he earned All-West Region First Team and second-team All-NWAC while also earning West Region Gold Glove honors after hitting .257 with eight doubles, a home run, 19 RBI, seven stolen bases and threw out 16 runners attempting to steal.
 
 
Alexandre Giguère | Catcher | 5-11, 180 | Québec, Canada
Giguère played for the Canadian Baseball Academy, was selected to play for Canadian Premier at the Perfect Game WWBA World Championship and was one of 75 players named to the 2024 Canadian Futures Showcase.
 
 
Owen Harper | LHP | 6-4, 170 | Phoenix, Ariz.
Harper pitched the last two seasons at Paradise Valley Community College and earned All-ACCAC second team honors and All-Region this past season with a 6-1 record, 3.33 ERA and 67 strikeouts in 70.1 innings.
 
 
Joey Hecker | OF | 6-0, 170 | Pullman, Wash.
Hecker is rated the No. 30 overall prospect in Washington by Prep Baseball Report and was named Co-MVP of the 2A Greater Spokane League after hitting .329 with six doubles, a triple, one home run and 19 RBI.
 
 
Cam Macleod | C | 5-11, 190 | Vancouver, British Columbia
Macleod played the last two seasons at Cloud County CC in Kansas where he earned All-KJCCC second-team honors after hitting .308 with 12 doubles, 13 home runs and 51 RBI. Macleod also earned NJCAA All-Academic honors along with a KJCC Gold Glove after throwing out 10 runners attempting to steal and committed just one error in 51 games played. Macleod, a former teammate of Cougar shortstop Gavin Roy at Cloud County CC, helped CCCC to the most wins in program history (48) and the program's first trip to the NJCAA Region 6 Plains District Baseball Tournament final.
 
 
Mason Pirello | OF | 5-9, 180 | Sammamish, Wash.
Pirello played at Skyline High School where he was rated the state's fourth-best outfielder and No. 17 overall prospect in Washington by Prep Baseball Report.
 
 
Matt Priest | OF | 6-1, 205 | San Diego, Calif.
Priest transferred from USC where he played last season but did not appear in a game. Priest played at La Jolla Country Day High School where he was rated the third-best outfielder in California according to Perfect Game.
 
 
August Richie | RHP | 6-3, 180 |  Tucson, Ariz.
Richie transferred from Virginia where he played last season and made two appearances, recording one strikeout in 1.2 innings. Prior to Virginia, Richie pitched the 2024 season at Pima Community College in Arizona where he struck out 35 in 34.1 innings.
 
 
Scott Rienguette | RHP | 5-10, 180 | Sudbury, Ontario
Rienguette transferred from Kansas State where he was on the team the last two seasons but did not appear in a game. Rienguette pitched the 2023 season at Cloud County CC in Kansas with current Cougar shortstop Gavin Roy and fellow signee catcher Cam Macleod. At CCCC, Rienguette struck out 20 in nine appearances and earned NJCAA All-Academic third-team honors.
 
 
Dustin Robinson | OF | 6-4, 215 | Brea, Calif.
Robinson transferred from Cypress College in southern California where he helped CC reach the California State Tournament Semifinal round after hitting .349 with 12 doubles, 10 home runs and 52 RBI.
 
 
Erik Rodriguez | RHP | 6-3, 195 | Moreno Valley, Calif.
Rodriguez transferred from Riverside City College where he earned All-Orange Empire Conference First Team after going 3-1 with three saves, a 2.45 ERA and 1.23 WHIP with 52 strikeouts and ten walks in 66 innings.
 
 
Trevor Smith | OF | 5-10, 160 | El Cajon, Calif.
Smith was named All-CIF San Diego Section First Team and All-Grossmont Hills League First Team after hitting .395 with four home runs and 20 RBI. While playing at Granite Hills High School, Smith was rated the No. 46 outfielder in California by Perfect Game.
