COLLEGE STATION, Texas –The Washington State men's track and field team concluded competition at the 2025 NCAA Division-I Outdoor Track & Field West First Round, Friday, at Texas A&M University. The Cougar 4x100 relay team set a school record and clinched a spot in the Outdoor Championships next month in Eugene, Oregon. Junior
Mason Lawyer led the Cougs in the sprints, qualifying for nationals in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash, while running second on the record-setting relay team.
WSU started the evening quickly off the blocks, as the 4x100 relay team of
Bryson Stubblefield, Lawyer,
Parker Duskin, and
Keenan Kuntz set a school record. The quartet broke a 35-year-old program record that stood since 1991 with a 39.09 finish, seventh fastest in the west, and earned a spot in the national semifinals next month for the first time since 2011.
Lawyer returned to the track for individual entries in the 100- and 200-meter quarterfinals, punching his ticket to Eugene in the 100-meter dash with a wind-aided PR sprint of 9.95 (+2.1). The Idaho native ran the fourth-fastest time at the regional championship, earning his first-career berth to the outdoor national championship. He returned to clinch a spot in the 200-meter dash with a lifetime best and the 10th-fastest time of the quarterfinals, clocking 20.34 seconds.
Senior

Limo's performance marked his best postseason placement of his career, besting his 15th-place finish as a sophomore.
Junior
John Paredes qualified for the 110-meter hurdles quarterfinal with his previous performance Wednesday afternoon, returning to the oval to clock a 13.76 in his heat. Paredes finished 18th overall, marking his second-consecutive season in the national quarterfinals.
Sophomore
Evans Kurui concluded the evening in the 5,000 meter semifinals, clocking a time of 13:34.89. Kurui will settle for a national bid in the 10,000-meter, finishing one hundredth of a second out of position for a 5,000-meter berth. The sophomore finished 13th overall in his first trip to the outdoor regional championship.
