PULLMAN, Wash. (April 29, 2025) – Washington State dropped a 7-6 nonconference matchup to Gonzaga in ten innings at Bailey-Brayton Field Tuesday night.

The Cougars tied the game with two runs in the eighth inning but a dropped fly ball in the top of the tenth put the go-ahead on third base and Gonzaga followed with a one-out squeeze bunt to take the 7-6 lead.

Washington State received a career high four hits from
Gavin Roy who doubled and drove in a run while
Kyler Northrop collected two hits, drove in a career-high three runs and scored twice including the game-tying run on a wild pitch in the eighth.
Jonah Shull added two hits while
Luke Thiele, singled, drove in a run and scored twice. Northrop's two hits extended his hitting streak to 16 games.

Gonzaga built a 3-0 lead with a solo homer in the second and a two-run homer in the third inning.

WSU tied things up with three runs in the fourth inning after Northrop blooped a two-out two-run double in front of a diving Gonzaga right fielder. Roy followed with a line drive single into centerfield to score Northrop as the tying run.

Thiele gave the Cougars a 4-3 lead with a sacrifice fly to centerfield with the bases loaded in the fourth inning. Gonzaga tied the game with a two-out RBI-single back up the middle in the sixth inning, took the lead with a sacrifice fly to centerfield in the seventh and added a run in the eighth for a 6-4 lead.

In the bottom of the eighth, Thiele was a hit by a pitch and later moved to third base before Northrop lined an RBI-single into left-centerfield to make it a one run game. Northrop raced around to third on Roy's fourth hit of the night and scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at six.

In the tenth, GU put the go-ahead run on after a dropped fly ball in the outfield and took a 7-6 lead with a one-out squeeze bunt.
