DAVIS, Calif. (April 23, 2025) – Washington State dropped a 6-1 nonconference matchup at UC Davis Wednesday evening.
The Cougars received doubles from
Logan Johnstone and
Kyler Northrop but the Aggies scored in each of the first two innings and added runs in the eighth. WSU combined to leave six runners on base while UCD took advantage of 11 walks against eight Cougar pitchers who worked.
KEY MOMENTS OF THE GAME
WSU put runners on second in each of the first two innings but were held off the board while UCD took a 1-0 lead with an RBI-single in the first inning. The Aggies added a run in the second for a 2-0 lead before the Cougar bullpen settled in and worked three-straight scoreless frames.
Northrop led off the fifth with a double down the left field line and came around to score on a pair of wild pitches. UC Davis regained a two-run lead with a bases-loaded walk in the sixth for a 3-1 advantage. In the eighth, the Aggies used a two-out RBI-single to left and a throwing error to push their lead to 6-1.
