Renner Leads Cougars on Final Day at The Goodwin

STANFORD, Calif. (March 29, 2025) – Junior Sam Renner shot a 1-under, 69, to lead Washington State Men's Golf during the final day at The Goodwin Saturday, held at the par 70, 6,742-yard Stanford Golf Course.
 
As a team, the Cougars improved by 10 strokes over its first two rounds and shot a 7-over, 287, to finish the three-day event at +41, 881, and in 23rd place. No. 15 UCLA won the tournament title at -11-under, 829, nine strokes ahead of No. 32 Colorado.
 
Renner, who battled throughout the first 36 holes, was more in control Saturday, carding three birdies against two bogeys to shoot 69 over his final 18 holes. His 54-hole total of +4, 214, placed him in a tie for 40th overall. Saturday's round also marked the 13th time, out of 27 rounds, Renner has shot in the 60's and the 19th time he has shot par or better this season.
 
Freshman Garrett Harrison matched his low round of the season with an even-par 70, Saturday. Harrison, who entered the day 16-over par, posted four birdies on his round as he moved up 21 spots to finish tied for 127th at 16-over, 226. Senior Drayton Joseph rebounded from Friday's 82 to post a 1-over, 71, a round that featured two birdies and nine-straight pars on the back side. Joseph ended his tournament at 18-over, 228, and in 137th place.
 
Graduate student Jakob Chicoyne shot a 7-over, 77, Saturday, to complete his 54 holes at 16-over, 226, tied with Harrison in 127th place. Freshman Dylan Burcham never found his groove as he struggled from the start en route to an 11-over, 81, giving him a three-round score of 18-over, 228 and tied with Jospeh for 137th.
 
The Cougars are next in action April 11-13 when they return to Northern California to complete in the El Macero Classic in Davis, Calif.
