Lyons, Moku Set Outdoor Records to Highlight Opening Weekend

| By:
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Sophomore Brooke Lyons and Tatum Moku each set outdoor school records while the Cougars captured nine overall victories Saturday to cap Washington State's opening weekend of the outdoor schedule at the Aztec Invitational. Additionally, 17 PR marks were set on the day.

Nine Cougar athletes take home victories on Saturday to wrap up a successful opening weekend at the Aztec Invitational. Brooke Lyons and Tatum Moku set outdoor program records in the 100-meter race and pole vault, respectively.  17 personal best times and distances were set to conclude the weekend.

Lyons, a sophomore from Kent, Wash., ran a personal best 11.44-second 100-meters in capturing the event title. The mark broke the 38-year-old program record held by Pam Qualls of 11.52 seconds, set in 1987. Four other Cougars competing in the event also set personal bests.

Lyons also won the women's 200m dash with a time of 23.32, the second best time in WSU history, just missing out on a program record by 0.02 seconds, also held by Qualls.

Hawaii-native Moku cleared a height of 4.27m (14' 0"), breaking teammate Eva Lowder's previous record of 4.26m set last year. Moku improved her previous best outdoor pole vault height by 0.7 meters. She wasted no time at 4.27 meters, clearing the bar on her first try.

Parker Duskin won the men's 110-meter hurdles to get back to his winning ways with a personal best time of 13.85 seconds. Erik Larripa Taxell impressed in his first collegiate event in this event as well, finishing sixth in 15.19.

In the women's javelin throw, Luceris Suarez Pacheco started her 2025 outdoor season well, winning the event with a distance of 46.88 meters. Laura Lindquist was just behind her, finishing second, with a throw of 45.91 meters.

Kai Twaddle-Dunham got his outdoor season off to a strong start with a win in the discus throw. He set a personal best distance of 56.37 meters, while Cody White (42.09m) and Larripa Taxell (37.82m) both set personal bests in the event.
