Ollie Obenour Named Mountain West Freshman of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 10, 2025) – Washington State freshman second baseman Ollie Obenour was named the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Obenour helped the Cougars to their second straight series win after taking two of three games from Seattle U at Bailey-Brayton Field over the weekend. WSU took three of four from Iowa the prior week.

Obenour tied for the team-high with a .462 (6-for-13) batting average the three games last weekend and also recorded a pair of doubles, four RBI and two runs scored. In Friday's 6-4 win, the San Jose, Calif. native recorded his first career three-hit game including an RBI-double and followed with two hits and two runs scored in the Saturday's win. In Sunday's finale, Obenour doubled and drove in a pair of runs.

Obenour enters the week with a .278 batting average with four doubles, a triple, second on the team with 10 RBI and currently on a 10-game on-base streak.

The Cougars hit the road for a five-game road trip beginning with a two-game series at Oregon State Tuesday and Wednesday before heading to Colorado Springs to open Mountain West Conference play at Air Force.
