CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (February 24, 2025) – Washington State closed out its stay in Corpus Christi with an 8-2 defeat to Texas A&M – Corpus Christi at Whataburger Field Monday afternoon.

Four Cougars posted multiple-hit games,
Ollie Obenour,
Gavin Roy,
Will Cresswell and
Cole Watterson but WSU combined to leave 16 runners on base. Texas A&M – Corpus Christi jumped out to an early lead with two in the first inning and four in the second inning.

KEY MOMENTS OF THE GAME
WSU took an early 1-0 lead after a
Ryan Skjonsby run-scoring sacrifice fly to centerfield but the Islanders answered with a pair of two-out runs in the bottom of the game and four more in the second inning.

The Cougars loaded the bases and picked up a run in the fourth to cut the Islander lead to 6-2 but TAMCC pushed the lead to 7-2 with an unearned run in the fifth.

WSU continued to threaten all afternoon but left a runner at third to end the sixth and left runners on second and third to end the eighth. The Islanders added another run late in their half of the eighth to push the lead to 8-2.

In the ninth, the Cougars again loaded the bases but the TAMCC bullpen ended the threat with a foulout and popout.
