Blažková, Vrieling Named CSC Academic All-District

PULLMAN, Wash. (December 16, 2025) – Washington State volleyball's Lucie Blažková and Taryn Vrieling earned Academic All-Region honors from the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Tuesday morning.

Blažková was one of the best middle blockers in the country, finishing the 2025 season ranking fifth in the nation with a .443 hitting percentage, a number that set the program record for highest hitting percentage in a single season. She also finished second in the WCC in blocks per set (1.20) and third in total blocks (120) while holding a 3.92 GPA in psychology. She also tallied 280 total kills, 30 service aces, 66 digs, 27 solo blocks and 384.0 total points.

The Ceská Trebová, Czech Republic native is named CSC Academic All-District for the first time in her career, adding to her list of accolades this postseason after also earning All-WCC First Team, WCC All-Academic First Team, and AVCA All-Region First Team.

Vrieling made a huge impact on the outside with the Cougars in her senior season, totaling 197 kills, 17 service aces, 116 digs, 24 total blocks and 228.5 total points while holding a 3.90 GPA in psychology. In the WCC she ranked 23rd in kills per set (2.40) and 24th in points per set (2.8) and played a large leadership role with the team.

The outside hitter from Kennewick, Wash. earns CSC Academic All-District for her first time after also being named WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention on Dec. 4.

Blažková was also named a CSC Academic All-America finalist and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced Jan. 13, 2026.
