Cougars Show Momentum Despite 71-54 Loss to Missouri

ORLANDO, Fla. (November 23, 2025) – Washington State women's basketball fell to Missouri, 71-54 on Sunday, riding a 24-point performance from Eleonora Villa which matched a career-best in a competitive loss at the WBCA Showcase.

Villa was the engine of the Cougar offense from the start, hitting 10-of-20 from the field, drilling three triples and adding five assists. Her pace and confidence helped WSU cut the deficit to three early in the second quarter, and a series of defensive stops kept the Cougars within reach late into the third.

Marta Alsina added 9 points on efficient shooting, while Malia Ruud posted 7 points, 6 rebounds, and a block in a strong all-around effort. Charlotte Abraham knocked down two threes and pulled in six boards, and Tanja Valancic totaled eight rebounds and three steals while anchoring WSU defensively.

The Cougars' best stretch came in the third quarter, where they forced six turnovers, hit four threes, and trimmed the Missouri lead to 47-39 after a Villa deep ball. WSU finished with 13 offensive rebounds, generating valuable extra possessions and showing continued growth on the glass.
