PULLMAN, Wash. – (November 15, 2025) – Washington State delivered a wire-to-wire sweep on Saturday afternoon, overpowering Seattle U (25-21, 25-19, 25-15) in Bohler Gym.
The Cougars (16-8, 10-4 WCC) wasted no time asserting control, hitting a scorching .516 in the opening set while racking up 17 kills with just one error. The Cougars' attack was relentless early, powered by standout performances from
Taryn Vrieling and Lucie Blažková, who combined for 21 kills on the afternoon.
Vrieling was nearly unstoppable, finishing with 12 kills on .688 hitting, three aces, and five digs in one of her most efficient outings of the year.
Blažková was equally impressive, producing nine kills on .750 hitting with no errors, four blocks, and an ace for 12.5 points as she took command at the net.
Camryn Lingenbrink added three blocks and four kills, while
Mary Healy chipped in four timely kills that helped WSU keep momentum throughout the match.
The Cougars' attack ran smoothly behind the two-setter system of
Livia Ward and
Italia Bernal, who combined for 31 assists. Ward contributed 16 assists and steady ball distribution, while Bernal added 15 assists and an ace. Their balanced play allowed Washington State to hit .417 as a team and keep Seattle U's defense on its heels for all three sets.
Tinons Munar Galmés anchored the back line with eight digs and ignited a massive serving surge. She delivered five aces, including a dominant run to begin the third set that put WSU in full control. In total, the Cougars tallied 11 aces, consistently disrupting the Redhawks' rhythm and forcing out-of-system swings.
Defensively, Washington State's block and serve combined to dictate the match. The Cougars totaled eight team blocks—three of them in the final set alone—as
Eliana Ti'a and Blažková teamed up for key rejections during turning-point rallies. Seattle U managed just a .211 hitting percentage and never led in the first or third frames.
