SPOKANE, Wash. – (November 12, 2025) – Washington State volleyball earned a convincing 3-1 win over Gonzaga (25-21, 19-25, 25-15, 25-18) Wednesday night inside the Charlotte Y. Martin Centre.
The Cougars (15-8, 9-4 WCC) hit a blistering .407 as a team — their second-best mark of the season — and controlled play at the net from start to finish.
Lucie Blažková led the charge with a .632 hitting percentage, finishing with 12 kills, four blocks and two aces for a team-high 16.5 points.
Melina Christodoulou matched with 12 kills on her .522 hitting with three blocks and an ace. Blažková and Christodoulou combined to finish with 24 kills and 0 errors, and a .571 hitting percentage.
Taryn Vrieling added 11 kills, while
Mary Healy chipped in nine on .471 hitting and three blocks.
Italia Bernal guided the offense with 23 assists and nine digs, while
Livia Ward added 19 assists and six digs of her own.
Camryn Lingenbrink anchored the Cougar block with six assists, helping WSU out-block Gonzaga 10-2.
Washington State's offense was locked in early, hitting .387 in the opening set and .520 in the third to reassert control after a narrow second-frame setback. The Cougars never trailed in the fourth, using an 8-2 run midway through the set to pull away and seal the match.
NOTES
- With a .632 hitting percentage today, Lucie Blažková is at a .449 clip for the season and currently sits with the highest single-season hitting percentage in WSU history.
- With five service aces in the match, the 2025 team currently sits second for the highest aces per set average in WSU history with 1.83.
- Blažková had one solo block to move to 64 career solo blocks, seventh all-time at WSU.
- Blažková's 12 kills puts her at 444 for her career, 56 away from 500.
- With her four total blocks today, Blažková has 239 career blocks, 11 away from 250.
- Tonight was Taryn Vrieling's 100th career match played.
- Vrieling also registered six digs, putting her at 490 in her career, 10 from 500.
- With her 11.0 points today, Vrieling has 938.0 in her career, 62.0 from 1,000.
- Italia Bernal tallied 23 assists, putting her at 1,334 for her career, 166 from 1,500.
- Bernal also had nine digs to put her career total at 395, 105 from 500.

The Cougars have another home/road weekend split, starting in Pullman to host Portland in the team's senior day game and final home match of the year on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. Then the team will head down to Saint Mary's to play on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. Both matches will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
