Cougars' First Half Barrage Leads Wazzu to Win

PULLMAN, Wash. (Hayden Wysup) – The Washington State basketball team defeated St. Thomas (Minn.), 81-71, Monday night in Beasley Coliseum.
 
Player Performances - Tomas Thrastarson led the team in scoring with a new career high 19 points and seven rebounds. Emmanuel Ugbo added 12 with six rebounds. ND Okafor had his best game of the season with 12 points and six rebounds. Adrià Rodriguez had a season-high nine points, five rebounds and four assists.
 
Inside the Stat Sheet – Wazzu dominated the glass, out-rebounding the Tommies 36-19 and 8-1 on the offensive rebounds. The Cougars also shot 52% from the field and finished 15-of-16 from the free throw line, the best percentage since last February.
 
Getting Back on Track – Slow starts have plagued the Cougars through their first games of the season. Tonight, Wazzu got off to a hot start scoring 50 first half points and holding the Tommies to 30. WSU never trailed in the game.
