PULLMAN, Wash. – (October 4, 2025) – Washington State volleyball continued its dominant start to West Coast Conference play Saturday afternoon, sweeping Gonzaga in straight sets (25-17, 25-14, 25-18) inside Bohler Gym to remain undefeated in league action.
The Cougars (10-4, 4-0 WCC) were firing on all cylinders, hitting an impressive .500 as a team while holding the Bulldogs (8-6, 1-2 WCC) to just a .278 attack percentage.
Taryn Vrieling led the charge offensively with 15 kills on .571 hitting, repeatedly finding gaps in Gonzaga's defense.
Eliana Ti'a was a force at the net as well, recording 11 kills at a .474 clip and adding two blocks.
Italia Bernal orchestrated the Cougar attack with 31 assists, while Lucie Blažková tallied eight kills on .583 hitting to go with four block assists.
Camryn Lingenbrink provided a spark with six kills and three blocks off the bench.
Defensively, WSU's front line frustrated Gonzaga's hitters all afternoon, registering seven total team blocks while forcing 11 Bulldog attack errors. Tinons Munar Galmés anchored the back row with nine digs and added an ace from the service line.
After a tight start in the opening set, WSU broke away with a 10-2 run fueled by Vrieling and Ti'a to claim the first frame, 25-17. The second set was all Cougars — they stormed out to an early lead and never looked back, outhitting Gonzaga .483 to .160. In the third, WSU's balanced attack sealed the sweep, punctuated by another Vrieling kill to close it out.
NOTES
- The team's .500 hitting percentage was the fifth-highest in program history, and the highest since hitting .506 on Sept. 2, 2023 against Tulsa.
- Taryn Vrieling set a career-high with her .571 hitting percentage.
- WSU's current 5-game winning streak is the longest since the 2023 team won seven straight (11/12-12/2).
- Blažková remains at 54 career solo blocks, ninth all-time at WSU.

The Cougars head to LMU to play on Thursday, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. and then Pepperdine on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 1 p.m. Both matches will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
