EUGENE, Ore. (Oct. 3, 2025) – Washington State Tennis captured all five matches to open play at the 2025 Duck Invitational, played Friday at the Student Tennis Center.
The day began with doubles when WSU's duo of
Chisato Kanemaki and
Martina Puvill posted a 7-5 win over Utah's Kamea Medora and Sara Akid. In the second doubles match of the day, Kanemaki and
Zali Morris cruised to a 6-1 win over Oregon's Tilde Jagare and Juliet Santitto.
In singles action, the Cougars faced Portland and captured all three matches in straight sets. Kanemaki defeated Alaia Rubio Perez, 6-1, 6-2, which Puvill had no trouble in a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Maria Galatescu. Morris played two strong sets and came away with a 7-6 (1), 6-4 win over Nadine Arbiazar Martinez.
Play continues at the Duck Invitational Saturday at 9 a.m.
