Cougar Athletics Promoting Safe and Responsible Gameday Environment

| By:
PULLMAN, Wash. (Oct. 23, 2025) -- With Washington State football hosting its first game this Saturday in over a month, Cougar Athletics would like to remind fans attending Saturday's game against Toledo of recent changes to beer and wine sales at Gesa Field.

Beginning last month, WSU Athletics announced a new pilot program that allows for walk-around beer and wine sales at Gesa Field. The initiative is designed to enhance the fan experience while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and responsible consumption. While beer and wine sales are now permitted in the general seating area, enhancing the gameday experience, the goal for Cougar Athletics is to do so prioritizing a safe and responsible environment for all.

Key elements of the pilot program that are strictly enforced include:
  • There is a zero tolerance for violators of the alcohol policy
  • The student section remains alcohol-free with strict enforcement
  • Only patrons 21 and over with valid government ID can purchase beer or wine
  • Limit of two alcoholic drinks per person, per transaction, and ID checks for all alcohol purchases
  • Sharing beer and wine purchases with others will result in ejection from the stadium
  • No outside alcohol can enter the stadium. Those violating the policy will have their alcohol confiscated and will be removed from the stadium

WSU and Aramark + Entertainment will continue to emphasize responsible drinking through staff training, signage, and enforcement protocols. Fans are encouraged to enjoy the new offerings responsibly and to help maintain a safe and spirited environment at Gesa Field.
