Cougars Handle LMU in Four Sets

PULLMAN, Wash. – (October 18, 2025) – Washington State volleyball kept its momentum rolling inside Bohler Gym on Saturday afternoon, taking down LMU in four sets (26-24, 21-25, 25-20, 25-22).

The Cougars (12-6, 6-2 WCC) held LMU to a .196 hitting percentage while collecting 64 digs and nine team blocks, limiting second-chance swings and controlling long rallies down the stretch.

Lucie Blažková powered the Cougar offense with a match-high 16 kills on an impressive .600 hitting percentage while adding four blocks and three service aces for 22 total points.

Taryn Vrieling matched her intensity with 16 kills of her own and eight digs, while setters Italia Bernal and Livia Ward efficiently directed the offense, combining for 45 assists.

After surviving a tight opening set that saw WSU erase a late LMU lead, the Cougars closed it out 26-24 behind back-to-back kills from Mary Healy and a set-ending ace by Kate Hayhurst. LMU rebounded to take the second, but the Cougars regrouped quickly—hitting .379 in the third set to regain control of the match.

Blažková was dominant at the net in the decisive third and fourth sets, tallying key kills and blocks to halt LMU runs. WSU's balanced attack and defensive depth made the difference late, as Tinons Munar Galmés anchored the back row with 21 digs while Camryn Lingenbrink added three blocks and Hayhurst chipped in six kills.
