Academic Services August Student-Athletes of the Month

PULLMAN, Wash. (September 6, 2024) – Washington State Cross Country's Maya McCabe and Ferran Verges were each named the Academic Services Student-Athletes of the Month for August 2024.

McCabe begins her second year at WSU after grad transferring from Seattle U prior to the 2023 season. The Ben Lomond, Calif. native owns a 3.72 GPA while working towards her master's degree in sport management, serves as a teaching assistant in the WSU sport management program and is the president of the Cougar Pride Alliance where she represented WSU at the Athlete Ally this past summer. Last season, McCabe finished sixth in the WSU Alumni Open 4K.

Verges begins his junior campaign at WSU, owns a 4.0 GPA while majoring in kinesiology and is expected to graduate next spring. The junior from Eugene, Ore. has worked with the WSU SAAC program, was part of the Pac-12 SAAC Leadership Retreat and also volunteered on the Costa Rico service trip this past summer. Last season, Verges in three meets and finished No. 15 overall in the WSU Alumni Open 6K.
