ABOUT WASHINGTON STATE
WSU has now won five of its last seven matches with another 5-set win against CSUN last weekend. Although losing its first two matches to begin the season, they were competitive matches as the Cougs worked through early adjustments with some new faces. The Cougs returned five from the 2023 team, including Logann Golden, Weronika Wojdyla, Katy Ryan, Emma Barbero and Lucie Blažková. In addition to the returners, nine newcomers have entered the program, including grad transfers Sage Brustad (Eastern Washington), Jaden Walz (Bowling Green) and Jade Warren (College of Idaho); junior transfers Keniya Cleveland (Feather River College), Taryn Vrieling (Idaho) and Kylie Wong (Arizona); and true incoming freshmen Italia Bernal, Haumea Marumoto and Breccan Scheck.

SERIES HISTORY
Thursday's match will be the 13th meeting between WSU and Santa Clara, and the first match between the two since 2011. The Cougars have won each of the last six meetings, including wins in 2011 (3-1), 1997 (3-0), 1995 (3-0), 1992 (3-2), 1990 (3-1) and 1988 (3-1).

Saturday will be the fourth time WSU has faced San Diego, with USD holding the slight edge 2-1 in their previous matches. The Cougars have lost each of the last two matches in 2022 and 2019, with their win coming in the first round of the 1993 NCAA Tournament, 3-1 in Pullman.

UP NEXT
WSU continues WCC play next weekend at home, hosting Portland on Thursday, October 3 at 7 p.m. and then Pepperdine of Sunday, October 6 at 1 p.m. Thursday's match will be available live on ESPN+, while Sunday's game will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
