PULLMAN, Wash. (December 10, 2025) – Washington State University Interim Director of Athletics
Jon Haarlow has announced that Women's Volleyball Head Coach
Korey Schroeder has signed a contract extension keeping him in Pullman through the 2029 season.
"In his two seasons serving as head coach, Korey has established himself as one of the top young volleyball coaches on the West Coast," said Haarlow. "His ability to recruit and develop top talent is evident and will be a huge asset as we embark on the new Pac-12 next season. We are fortunate to have Korey leading Cougar Volleyball for many years to come."
Schroeder was named the Washington State women's volleyball program's 13th head coach in program history in January of 2024 after having served as an assistant coach in 2023.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue being a part of such a storied volleyball program, and to work with the people at Washington State University that make this place special," said Schroeder. "I'm thankful for President Cantwell, Interim Athletic Director
Jon Haarlow and Senior Women's Administrator Kelli Kamimura who believe in our staff's process, and have made it clear they want to see volleyball continue to succeed at WSU. This community, this program, and this university have already made a huge impact on my life, and I'm honored to keep representing the Cougs."
Schroeder was assigned a tall task at the beginning of his tenure as head coach, taking the helm of a program with only five players committed to return for the 2024 season, while still needing to fill out his coaching staff. Not only did Schroeder get to work and rebuild the program, but he led the new-look team to its ninth-straight postseason appearance with a berth into the 2024 NIVC.
He took the program another step forward in 2025, improving the team's record to 17-11 overall and 11-7 in the West Coast Conference while seeing four players earn All-WCC honors and two named WCC All-Academic. Lucie Blažková ended the season fifth in the nation with a .443 hitting percentage, the highest single season mark all time by a Coug, leading her to being named First Team All-WCC.
