PULLMAN, Wash. (April 20, 2024) – Washington State Football continued spring practice with its second scrimmage of the spring at Gesa Field Saturday afternoon.

The Cougars saw the offense throw three touchdown passes and rush for another while the defense tallied six sacks and picked off one pass.

Quarterback
Zevi Eckhaus unoffcially went 13-of-20 for 159 yards and a touchdown while
John Mateer unofficially completed 8-of-14 passes for 110 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Redshirt-freshman
Jaxon Potter went 6-of-10 for 49 yards. On the ground,
Djouvensky Schlenbaker carried six times for 25 yards and touchdown while freshman
Wayshawn Parker added eight carries. Kris Huston led all pass catchers with five catches for 45 yards,
Tre Shackelford added three catches for 28 yards,
Leon Neal Jr. caught four passes for 40 yards and
Brandon Hills added four catches for 64 yards while
Josh Meredith,
Trey Leckner and
Billy Riviere III each caught touchdowns.

Defensively,
Cole Norah corralled a tipped pass for an interception late in the day while Buddah Al-Uqdah,
Frank Cusano,
Andrew Edson and
Nusi Malani each tallied sacks with a pair of "sacks" credited to the team.

Kicker
Dean Janikowski connected for 47 yards, 32 yards and 37 yards.

On the day's second drive, Eckhaus led the Cougars on a 12-play 99-yard touchdown drive capped by a Schlenbaker one-yard plunge. Later in the day, Mateer connected with Riviere III from 14-yards out, Eckhaus followed with a 14-yard strike to
Trey Leckner on the next drive and Mateer capped the day with a 17-yard touchdown pass to Meredith.
