FAYETTEVILLE, Ark./ COLO. SPRINGS, Colo. — Jasneet Nijjar lowered the Washington State
indoor program record in the women's 400-meter for the second time this season with a 52.34 to place third overall in an elite field Friday at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville. The Cougars' men's 4X400m relay team capped the one-day Arkansas Qualifier by breaking a WSU record that had stood since 2009 with a 3:06.40 to win the final event of the night in Arkansas.
The record-setting run for the Cougars' relay team consisting of
Ethan Willems,
Jared McAlvey,
Mason Lawyer, and
Grant Buckmiller sat in second going into the final turn when the freshman Buckmiller surged in front of an Oklahoma State sprinter over the final 100 meters to take the top spot by over 1.2 seconds.
Down in Colorado Springs,
Eva Lowder cleared 4.15m to earn her third first-place finish in the women's pole vault this season at the Air Force Last Chance from Cadet Field House, while teammate
Tatum Moku finished at 3.95m to place fourth.
Up Next: Both men's and women's indoor teams will take their final shots at moving into qualifying spots next weekend at the Ken Shannon Invitational from Dempsey Indoor Center in Seattle. The Ken Shannon Invitational will take place over two days beginning next Friday, Feb. 23, with field events kicking things off at noon.
