SEATTLE/ SPOKANE, Wash. — Washington State men's and women's track and field teams combined for an additional 10 personal-best times and marks Saturday as the two teams wrapped up competition at both the Whitworth Invitational at The Podium, and the Husky Classic at Dempsey Indoor Center.
Nana Gyedu reached a personal-best mark of 15.75m to win her third-consecutive women's shot put competition, and
Ronald Grueso Mosquera reached a season-best mark of 18.02m to win the men's competition.
Eli Lawrence won his fourth-career triple jump competition in as many tries, returning to action with a final mark of 14.82m to win the event on day two at The Podium. High jumpers AJ McGloflin (2.10m) and
Antoni Smith (1.93m) each cleared career-best heights to close the weekend out for Washington State with McGloflin topping the field at 6' 10.75".
Back at the Dempsey Indoor in Seattle,
Maya McCabe captured the best finish of the day to close the Husky Classic with a personal-best 2:09.39 to place 17th in the women's 800m.
Up Next:
Washington State will head south next week as select student athletes will travel to compete in an elite competitive field at the Arkansas Qualifer in Fayetteville, Ark. The Cougars will return to the Pacific Northwest the following week as it closes the indoor season's pre-championship schedule with the Ken Shannon Invitational Friday-Saturday, Feb. 23-24.
