Cougar Cross Country Takes on West Coast Conference Championships

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Cougs will head to Northern California for the WCC Conference Championships at Micke Grove Golf Links. The women's 6k race will begin at 10 a.m. and the men's 8k will follow at 11 a.m.

The men will compete against Gonzaga, Pepperdine, Portland, San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Clara, and St. Mary's. Loyola Marymount, Oregon State, and Pacific will be in the women's race, along with the other eight schools competing in the men's race. 

Washington State will be sending Evans Kurui, Brian Barsaiya, Leif Swanson, Kelvin Limo, Leo Cook, Evan Bruce, Grayson Wilcott, Jacob Easton, Micaiah Aden and Eric Swedin for the men's race. The women's 6k will feature Zenah Cheptoo, Alaina Stone Boggs, Caroline Jepkorir, Neema Kimtai, Nicole Bissell, Jessica Duran, Kaleena Narus, Maya Nichols, Sabrina Colbert and Lindsay Siebert.

Last Time Out: 

·       Evans Kurui finished second in the men's 8k, 23:38.2, and led the team to a fifth-place finish in the B race at the NCAA Pre-Nationals

·       At NCAA Pre-Nationals, Zenah Cheptoo took second place in the women's 6k leading the Cougs to a first-place team finish in the B division

·       Alaina Stone Boggs and Caroline Jepkorir rounded out the top 15 with Jepkorir racing a personal best time of 20:51.9.

·       At the LC State Invite, the women finished in fourth with every runner posting a personal best 5k time.

·       The men finished sixth overall at the LC State invite, with Micaiah Aden and Alec Barran both recording personal best times in the 8k.
