Early kills from Ryan and blocks from Bernal and Blažková helped the Cougs take a 10-5 lead in set one. A Blažková ace and kills from Brustad and Ryan turned into a 6-1 Cougar run to stretch out to a 16-8 lead. Another Blažková ace and kills from Vrieling and Bernal wrapped up the 25-15 win as the team hit .480 in the opening set.

OSU won set two and then took an early lead in set three before kills from Brustad put WSU out in front 10-9 as teams began trading points from there. After ties at 10-all and 11-all, the Cougs took a 2-point lead after kills from Scheck and Vrieling made it 13-11. Seven more ties later, a Barbero ace made it 21-19, and then a block by Bernal and Blažková, and a Vrieling kill gave the Cougars the 25-20 set three win.

Set four was tied at 6-6 until aces from Blažková and Bernal and a trio of Brustad kills put WSU on top 11-7. A Vrieling kill and a Blažková solo block made it 15-11 before OSU inched back to within one, 16-15. After a WSU timeout, another Blažková solo block and a kill from Brustad put it back at a 4-point game, 19-15, before Blažková's fourth solo block of the night and three more Brustad kills ended the set 25-18, and the match 3-1.
