Cougars close weekend with multiple record-setting finishes between two meets

Freshman pole vaulters Eva Lowder and Tatum Moku moved into the WSU indoor top-10 all-time, while Zenah Cheptoo (mile) and Grant Buckmiller (400m) each set WSU first-year records on Saturday.

SEATTLE / SPOKANE, Wash. — Washington State men's and women's track and field teams continued to see its freshman capture headlines as the teams wrapped up another weekend on the indoor schedule at both the Inland NW Invitational and UW Invitational Saturday.

Zenah Cheptoo captured a WSU freshman record in the women's mile, and first-year pole vaulters Tatum Moku and Eva Lowder each climbed into a tie for fourth all-time all-time on the women's indoor top-10 list after clearing a season-best height of 4.10m/ 13' 5.25 on day two of the UW Invitational at the Dempsey Indoor Center.

As Cheptoo continued to burst onto the scene from the West side of the state, Seattle native, Grant Buckmiller, added to his impressive rookie resume from The Podium in Spokane, finishing with a first-place finish and a WSU freshman record in the men's 400-meter at 46.45.  The Cougars posted six wins in total on the track at The Podium Saturday, and finished the one-day meet with a pair of shot put wins from Nana Gyedu (14.54m/ 47' 8.50") and Ronald Grueso Mosquera (17.29m/ 50' 8.75").
