PULLMAN, Wash. – The No. 23 Washington State women's soccer team (4-0-0) defeated Weber State (0-4-0), 3-1, Sunday afternoon at Lower Soccer Field. Three different Cougars scored to continue a perfect start to the season with goals from senior

Detrizio scored the opening goal for WSU in the 22nd minute when Reed rushed forward with the ball, taking space down the right side. Reed squared the ball across the penalty area to a streaking Detrizio for the easy goal and Reed's first assist of her career.
With the goal, Detrizio earned her second goal of the season, and 20th career goal, to move into the school's top-10 career scoring list. The Cougars took the 1-0 lead into halftime, leading at the break for the first time this season.
Returning from the locker room, Weber State jumped on an early opportunity in the 49th minute to level the game. The Wildcats' Grace Kirby dribbled at the top of the box before rocketing a shot to the upper far post and into the side netting for the equalizer.
With the score square, the Cougars adjusted tactics to secure the backline and possess the ball into the attacking third. WSU pressed forward with 22 total shots. The Cougars found the game-winner in the 65th minute when Reed scored her first career goal. The Arizona junior chased down a loose ball on the Weber State endline, before dribbling back through a pair of defenders to turn and fire home the game-winning goal from the edge of the 6-yard box.
WSU's Clark would add the insurance goal just over 10 minutes later, tallying her third of the season in the 76th minute. Clark received a ball from junior
Reese Tappan, with her back to goal at the corner of the penalty area. The Arizona freshman turned on her defender and curled a left-footed shot up and around the keeper to find the top far corner and the 3-1 lead.
After a shaky start, the Cougar defense found its form, limiting Weber State to six total shots, and just two attempts on target. The Cougars tallied 12 corner kicks to Weber State's one, while putting eight shots on frame. Junior goalkeeper

Washington State returns to action Thursday, Aug. 31, to close the opening month of the season against San Diego State at Lower Soccer Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. with a "Beach Party" theme and coverage on a WSU live stream.
