Cam Magee Drafted by Atlanta Braves in 18th Round

SEATTLE (July 11, 2023) – Washington State infielder Cam Magee was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 18th round of the 2023 Major League Baseball Draft Tuesday.
 
Magee is the third Cougar selected in the draft, joining outfielder Jonah Advincula who went to the Cleveland Guardians in the eighth round Monday and infielder Sam Brown who went to the Los Angeles Angels in the 12th round. Magee is the first Cougar drafted by the Braves since catcher Jason Hairston in 1997.
 
Last season after transferring from Arizona State, Magee appeared in 51 games, made 48 starts, hit .297 with 31 runs scored, nine doubles, three home runs, 36 RBI and three stolen bases. The Anaheim, Calif. native tallied 16 multiple-hit games, seven multiple-RBI games, an 11-game hitting streak and a 15-game on-base streak during the season.
 
Prior to WSU, in his only season at ASU, Magee hit .185 with three doubles, one triple, one home run and 14 RBI in 33 games.
