Jacob McKeon Named CSC Academic All-American

PULLMAN, Wash. (June 7, 2023) – Washington State Baseball senior Jacob McKeon was named to the Academic All-America First Team, the College Sports Communicators announced Wednesday.

McKeon earned Academic All-America second-team honors last season and was named the 2023 Pac-12 Conference Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The senior designated hitter is the fourth Cougar to earn multiple Academic All-America honors and first since catcher/outfielder Collin Slaybaugh in 2013-14.

McKeon, a two-time All-Pac-12 selection, excelled in the classroom during every season in Pullman, is a two-time Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll selection, was named to the Academic All-District Team last month and graduated with a 3.95 GPA while majoring in kinesiology.

On the field, the designated hitter from Phoenix was named the All-Pac-12 Team for the second straight season, the first Cougar to earn All-Pac-12 honors in back-to-back seasons since pitcher Ian Hamilton in 2014 and 2015. McKeon hit .341, tied for sixth in the Pac-12 with 18 doubles, added eight home runs, 47 RBI, 52 runs scored and was a perfect 6-for-6 in stolen base attempts. The senior tallied 21 multiple-hit games including the team's only five-hit game of the season, was second with 14 multiple-RBI games and closed his career with a 30-game on-base streak.
