PULLMAN, Wash. (June 13, 2023) – Washington State Baseball senior
Jacob McKeon was named to the ABCA All-West Region First Team, the American Baseball Coaches Association announced Tuesday.
McKeon was named the first-team's designated hitter after earning All-West Region second-team honors last season, becoming the first Cougar to earn back-to-back All-Region honors since first baseman Taylor Ard in 2011-12.
McKeon was named the All-Pac-12 Conference Team for the second straight season, the first Cougar to earn All-Pac-12 honors in back-to-back seasons since pitcher Ian Hamilton in 2014 and 2015. The Phoenix native hit .341, tied for sixth in the Pac-12 with 18 doubles, added eight home runs, 47 RBI, 52 runs scored and was a perfect 6-for-6 in stolen base attempts. The senior tallied 21 multiple-hit games including the team's only five-hit game of the season, was second with 14 multiple-RBI games and closed his career with a 30-game on-base streak. McKeon finished his Cougar career with a .344 batting average, 46 doubles, 17 home runs and 108 RBI in 139 games.
In the classroom, McKeon was named to the Academic All-America First Team by the College Sports Communicators last week after earning Academic All-America second-team honors last season. Earlier this month, he was named the 2023 Pac-12 Conference Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year and graduated with a 3.95 GPA while majoring in kinesiology.
