BERKELEY, Calif. (May 13, 2023) – Washington State dropped game two of the series 16-10 to California at Evans Diamond Saturday afternoon. Sunday's series rubber game is set for 1:05 p.m.

Washington State saw five players collect multiple-hit games including
Jonah Advincula who doubled twice and
Jake Harvey who drove in three runs. The Cougar pitching staff pushed their season strikeout total to 476, breaking last season's record of 473.

WSU scored in each of the first three innings for a 4-2 lead but Cal (22-24, 10-16 Pac-12) scored seven runs in the third inning and four in the fourth inning to even the series at a game a piece after the Cougars 9-5 win Friday evening.

KEY MOMENTS OF THE GAME
WSU jumped out to an early lead as Advincula walked and moved to third on a Brown single and scored on a
Jacob McKeon RBI-single through the left side. The Cougars added two more runs in the second on Harvey's squeeze bunt single up the first base line and Advincula's RBI-double to right field.

Cal answered with a pair of runs in their half of the second on a wild pitch and error to cut the Cougar lead to 3-2. WSU pushed the lead to 4-2 with
Kyle Russell squeeze bunt to score
Elijah Hainline but Cal again answered with seven runs on five hits in the third and four more in the fourth for a 13-4 Golden Bear lead.

In the seventh, WSU loaded the bases and plated five runs to cut the Cal lead to 14-9 but the Golden Bear bullpen ended the comeback with scoreless eighth and ninth innings.
