Women's Golf returns to action this weekend at the PING ASU Invite

PHOENIX – The Washington State women's golf team heads to the Sonoran Desert this weekend to participate in the 2023 PING ASU Invitational. The three-day tournament will be held on March 24-26 at the Papago Golf Course.
The Course and Tournament Format
The 2023 PING ASU Invitational will take place at the Papago Golf Course, a 6,543-yard course located in Phoenix that plays as a par-72. The tournament will feature one 18-hole round each day, with play starting this Friday, March 24, and ending Sunday, March 26. It is the first time this spring that Washington State will play in a three-day tournament.
The Cougars begin the 2023 PING ASU Invitational this Friday at 8 a.m. PT. Pairings for Saturday's second round and Sunday's third round will be based on results at the end of each of the first two rounds.

"We are excited to get going on the second half of our spring season after a competitive break over spring break. We have had the opportunity to practice and play qualifying rounds with internal competition for the upcoming line-up and will be traveling another young team with two freshmen and two sophomores, led by our strong senior player in Darcy. We are hoping for some nice spring weather in Arizona, as the previous events this year have been wet and cold.
"The Papago Golf Course has undergone some renovation since the last time any of us has played there, with some different green complexes which will be interesting to experience. It is a very strong field for the event, and a great challenge for us to compete with the best. In preparation, we have continued to focus on our performance bubble, and what focus, and thoughts are productive for each individual's performance. As far as golf shots go, we will be prepared for a firmer and more dry surface where the ball will bounce and roll more than we have seen earlier this spring."
The Field
Arizona State will once again serve as the host at the PING ASU Invitational. Along with the Sun Devils, Washington State will compete against Arizona, Baylor, California, Colorado, Kansas, Michigan, Michigan State, Mississippi State, New Mexico, Northwestern, Oregon, Oregon State, Texas, USC, and Washington.

Last Time Out
The Washington State women's golf team posted its best team score of the spring season, as the Cougars concluded the 2023 Juli Inkster Meadow Club Invitational carding 891 (+27) to finish ninth.
Fifth-year senior Darcy Habgood finished the Meadow Club Collegiate in a tie for 11th on the player leaderboard, as she finished the tournament at 2-over; 218. Habgood had the best individual round for the Cougars, as she shot 3-under; 69 in the second round. The Australian native collected five birdies in the second round en route to her best individual round score of the season. Habgood's 10 total birdies were the third-most collected by a golfer in the tournament.
