PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State women's basketball freshman
Jenna Villa was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week, the Pac-12 Conference announced Monday afternoon.
The honor is Villa's first career Conference recognition, and the first Freshman of the Week nod for the Cougars since the 2020-21 season when
Charlisse Leger-Walker won it seven times.
Villa scored a career-high 18 points on an efficient night where she went 4-of-5 from the arc, and 6-of-8 from the field in Sunday's big 95-48 win over Houston. She also grabbed four boards and dished out an assist.
The Conference also named Kailyn Gilbert of Arizona as the Pac-12 Player of Week.
Washington State next plays Wednesday, Dec. 20 at Auburn to wrap up non-conference play this season. Tip-off is scheduled for 12 p.m. PT on SEC Network+.
