COLLEGE STATION, Texas (November 16, 2023) – Sophomore Emily Lundgren broke her own school record in the 100 breast for Washington State Swimming who tallied seven Top-10 times during day two of the Art Adamson Invite hosted by Texas A&M Thursday.
 
Through two days WSU sits fourth with 239 points, trailing No. 11 Texas A&M, No. 23 UCLA and LSU but continue to lead San Diego State, Utah and Houston despite all teams counting diving points with the Cougars not competing in diving.
 
"It was another great day for the COUGS! From the start of the meet until the end we showed heart and continued to push the envelope, nearly setting school records with our relay teams," Head Coach Matt Leach said. "We had other big-time swims in Ariel (Wang), Anna (Rauchholz) and Dori (Hathazi) moving up in the Top-10 with Anna and Dori just missing out on school records and Emily bettered her previous school record in the 100 breast! It was great swimming for the COUGS and we always finish tough!"
 
Lundgren, who also owns the school record in the 200 breast, broke her own school record in the 100 breast with a 1:00.55, beating her previous top mark of 1:00.78.
 
The Cougars opened the day with an impressive performance by the 200 medley relay team as Anna Rauchholz, Emily Lundgren, Dori Hathazi and Selena Duran Ortiz finished fourth overall with a 1:39.62, just behind the school record of 1:29.13. In the 400 IM, freshman Ariel Wang continued her solid showing in the meet, notching a 4:17.80 for the eighth-fastest time in program history.
 
Later in the evening finals, Hathazi posted a 53.72 in the 100 fly to place seventh overall and improve her own fifth-fastest time in WSU history while freshman Mira Szimcsak followed with a 1:48.13 in the 200 free, the fifth-fastest time in program history and Parker posted a 1:48.56, the tenth-fastest 200 free time in program history. In the 100 back, Rauchholz won the "C" final head with a 53.84, besting her own second-best 100 back mark in program history. Hathazi capped the day with an impressive mark in the 800 free relay, starting the relay with a 1:47.36 in the opening 200, the fourth-fastest 200 free time in program history.
 
The meet wraps up Friday.
