PULLMAN, Wash. (October 29, 2023) – Five players scored in double figures for Washington State in a 92-51 exhibition victory over Montan Western University at Beasley Coliseum Sunday.
The Cougars received 17-point efforts from Charlisse Leger-Walker and Eleanora Villa while Beyonce Bea tallied 16 points, Tara Wallack scored 15 and Astera Tuhina added 10. Wallack nearly tallied a double-double after grabbing nine rebounds and Bella Murekatete came down with a game-high 11 while Leger-Walker recorded a game-high seven assists and Tuhina dished out five.
WSU combined for nine blocked shots, dished 19 assists and shot 53 percent from the field.
The Cougars scored the game's first 11 points and finished the opening quarter with a 26-9 lead after holding MWU to 3-of-15 from the floor. Villa scored 10 of her points in the third quarter as WSU scored 20 in the period and put the game way with a 22-point fourth quarter.
Washington State opens the season next Monday, Nov. 6 against Cal Poly at 4 p.m.
