Cougars set to split squad for three meets this weekend

PULLMAN, Wash. -- Washington State men's and women's indoor track and field team will be dividing between three meets this weekend. The Cougars will compete in the New Mexico Team Open at the Albuquerque Convention Center and the UW Invitational at the UW Dempsy Indoor, both of which are two-day meets slated to begin on Friday. The Cougars will also send four student-athletes to compete in Saturday's Inland Northwest Invitational at the Podium in Spokane, Wash.

LAST TIME OUT - LAUREN MCCLUSKEY MEMORIAL OPEN:
The Cougars claimed four first place finishes and 10 podium finishes. Nana Gyedu (shot put), Alex Payne (weight throw), Gilana Wollman (long jump), and Renick Meyer (pentathlon) each won their respective events for the women's team while Lee Walburn sat atop the standings of the men's heptathlon before bowing out of the 1,000-meter run, the final leg of the hep for the weekend. 
 
The Cougars combined for an additional six podium finishes on top of their four event wins. Anna Rodgers finished just inches behind her teammate to finish as runner-up in the women's long jump, reaching her season-best mark of 5.89m. Narrowly missing the top of the podium last week, Daylon Hicks (2.03m, 2nd men's high jump), Suzy Pace (1.64m, 2nd women's high jump) and Ronald Grueso Mosqquera (16.51m, 2nd men's shot put) each finished runner-up in their respective events.
