CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A total of 15 Washington State women's rowers were named 2023 National Scholar Athletes by the College Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA), the organization announced Friday, July 21.
Fifth-year seniors Meg Montgomery (Kinesiology) and Samantha Schmidt (Kinesiology), seniors Cate Field (Kinesiology), Ella Greenslade (Social Sciences), Madeleine Pollard (Kinesiology), Grace Trujillo (Kinesiology), juniors Eleanor Curtright (Civil Engineering), Ilaria Macchi (Biochemistry), Ainsley Tiernan (Finance), and Sydney Wick (Psychology), along with sophomores Fiona Elliott (Biology-French), Hannah Elliott (Kinesiology), Jess Horrigan (Kinesiology), Isabella Jachymek (Economics, Policy & Law), and Izabela Janecek (Psychology) were named to the 2023 CRCA Scholar Athlete list.
It is the third time CRCA Scholar Athlete selection for Field, Pollard, and Schmidt. Meanwhile it is the second selection for the Greenslade, Macchi, Montgomery, Tiernan, and Wick earn a spot on the list for the second-straight season. Seven Cougars earned their first-ever CRCA Scholar Athlete honor. That group includes Curtright, F. Elliott, H. Elliott, Horrigan, Jachymek, Janecek, and Trujillo.
