Cougars head north to Spokane to compete in the Buc Scoring Invite

PULLMAN, Wash. - Now into the second week of the 2023 outdoor season, Washington State men's and women's track and field team will travel to Spokane this weekend to compete in the Buc Scoring Invite Thursday and Friday at Boppell Track & Whitworth Pine Bowl.

PULLMAN, Wash. - Now into the second week of the 2023 outdoor season, Washington State men's and women's track and field team will travel to Spokane this weekend to compete in the Buc Scoring Invite Thursday and Friday at Boppell Track & Whitworth Pine Bowl. 
 
The Buc Scoring Invite begins Thursday with the heptathlon 100m hurdles at 11:45 a.m. with field events beginning at 2 p.m. with the women's hammer throw. Friday's running events are set to begin at 11 a.m. with the men's 100 hurdles while the second day of field events will start at 2:30 p.m. with the long jump.

LAST TIME OUT (Sam Adams Classic/ GCU Invitational) 
The Cougars won 15 events, set 16 PRs, and tallied a total of 35 podium finishes to open the outdoor campaign lats weekend between the GCU Invitational in Phoenix and the Sam Adams Classic in Spokane.  
 
Jared McAlvey's clocked a nation-leading 400m hurdles time (50.90) to win the event with a new meet record. McAlvey earned Pac-12 Track Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career for his efforts and was one of six Cougars to set or break the previous meet record over the weekend.  
The Cougars fly down south to the longhorn state to compete in the Texas Relays next weekend (March 23-24) in Austin, Texas at the Mike A. Myers Track and Soccer Stadium.
