PROVO, Utah - Magda Jehlarova had nine kills on 11 attempts (.818) as Washington State volleyball (2-0) hit a program record .554 to blow past Rider (0-2), 3-0 (25-10, 25-9, 25-9), on Friday night in the BYU doTERRA Classic at the Smith Fieldhouse.

Laura Jansen added eight kills on 15 swings (.400), Katy Ryan tallied seven on 11 attempts (.545), and Jasmine Martin finished with six kills on only seven attempts (.857).  The win was the 300^th career win for head coach Jen Greeny and gives the Cougars their first 2-0 start since starting the 2018 season 9-0.

Washington State jumped out early in set one and never looked back as the match lasted only one hour and saw only one lead change as Rider won the first point in set two and never led again. 

The Cougars jumped ahead early throughout with a 10-2 run to start the match, a 10-3 run to begin the second and a 12-3 run to begin the third frame.

Washington State improved on both sides of the net as the match progressed, hitting a match-high .667 (11-1-15) in the third while Rider was held to -.261 in the final set.  WSU also applied pressure with its serve throughout the match as Karly Basham and Pia Timmer each finished with three of the Cougars' nine total aces.

WSU will be back in action tomorrow for its first top-25 test of the season against 10^th-ranked BYU beginning at 6 p.m. (PST) on BYU TV and the BYU TV app.
