LAS VEGAS – The Washington State women's basketball team has earned the No. 3-seed in the upcoming 2022 Pac-12 Women's Basketball Tournament, presented by New York Life. The Cougars will take on the winner of No. 6-seed Utah and No. 11-seed California Thursday, March 3, in Las Vegas. Tip-off from the Michelob ULTRA Arena, formerly Mandalay Bay Events Center, is set for 8:30 p.m. PT and will air live on the Pac-12 Network.
Washington State earned the No. 3 seed at the 2022 Pac-12 Tournament for the first time in program history. It is also the highest seed the Cougars have ever earned at the Pac-12 Women's Basketball Tournament after WSU won a program-record 11 Pac-12 games this season to finish in a tie for second place with Oregon. The Ducks hold the tiebreaker over the Cougars to claim the tournament's No. 2 seed.
Washington State comes into the Pac-12 Women's Basketball Tournament at 19-9 overall and 11-6 in Pac-12 play. The 19 wins set a program record for most wins in a season in the NCAA era. The 11 conference wins set the program record for most Pac-12 wins in a season.
WSU is 1-4 all-time in the Pac-12 Women's Basketball Tournament under head coach Kamie Ethridge. Washington State will be seeking a victory for the second-straight season at the Pac-12 Tournament. Last season, the No. 7-seeded Cougars knocked off No. 10 Utah, 57-48, in the tournament's first round before falling to No. 2-seed Arizona in the Pac-12 Tournament Quarterfinals. Washington State will be seeking an appearance in the Pac-12 Tournament Semifinals for the third time in program history. WSU previously played in the semifinal round of the Pac-12 Women's Basketball Tournament in 2012 and 2014.
