FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.— Graduate student Sam Brixey tied the WSU men's indoor 60m hurdles record Friday, Feb. 18, as he clocked in at 7.69 seconds to place third in the event at the Arkansas Qualifier.

Brixey's time recorded in the 60m hurdles at the Randal Tyson Track Center, which is commonly known as the fastest track in the world, ties Kip Ngeno's 47-year old record for the program's best indoor 60m hurdle time. The 7.69 mark is a new personal record for Brixey, while it is also the 11th-fastest time collected in the event in the NCAA this season.

In total, the Washington State track and field team had four of its six student-athletes that competed at the Arkansas Qualifier place inside the top-10 in their respective events.

Graduate Student Mitch Jacobson collected a first-place finish for WSU in the men's high jump, as he won the event with a mark of 2.01m. It is the second-straight meet that Jacobson has won the event, while it is his fourth high jump title at a meet this season.

Freshman Micaela De Mello and graduate student Nick Johnson each placed inside the top-10 in their 60m hurdles race. As the only representative of the Cougar women's track and field team, De Mello placed seventh overall in the women's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.63 seconds. Meanwhile, Johnson took eighth in the men's 60m hurdles, completing the race in 8.09 seconds.
