Academic Services Announces January Student-Athletes of the Month

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State track and field's Anna Rodgers and Sam Griffith have been named the Academic Services Student-Athletes of the Month for January 2022.

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State track and field's Anna Rodgers and Sam Griffith have been named the Academic Services Student-Athletes of the Month for January 2022.
 
One of the top jumpers on the women's track adn field team, Rodgers has excelled in every aspect of being a student-athlete. Sporting a 3.81 gpa as a psychology major earning conference all-academic honors in every year she has been eligible. Out of competition Rodgers is the SAAC representative for her team and co-events lead for SAAC. She served as an event lead for Butch's Bash and their Dodgeball tournament. She has also been part of Coug Pals and is a member of BSAA all while also working in a research lab on campus. This season, Rodgers was stellar during the indoor season as the senior was perfect inside The Podium. Most recently she won the Long Jump with a mark of 18-09 3/4 [5.73m].
 
A distance runner for the men, Griffith is a double major in marketing as well as international business sporting a 3.93 gpa. He was a SAAC representative for two years and has helped with Butch's Bash as well as the Lauren McCluskey Race for Campus Safety. Additionally he had a summer internship with a small business where he helped with their email campaigns and analyzing customer analytics. Fluent in French his ultimate goal is to work as an international liaison between American and international companies. He has been named to the conference all-academic team every year eligible as a Coug. Last season, he competed in four meets during the outdoor season. At the Whitworth Invite and Multi he set a personal record of 4:03.63 in the 1500m event while at the UW v. WSU Dual he set a personal record in the 3000m with a time of 9:28.95 placing sixth overall in the event.
