Box Score PROVO, Utah – Washington State's comeback came up one match short as BYU came away with a 4-3 victory Friday afternoon at the BYU Outdoor Tennis Courts.

Tied at 3-3, the match came down to No. 1 singles where WSU's
Michaela Bayerlova won a second-set tiebreaker to force a deciding third set against BYU's Anastasia Abramyan. Trailing 0-5 in the final set, Bayerlova, ranked No. 86, ran off three-straight games to close within 5-3. Abramyan, however, broke Bayerlova in the next game to secure a 7-5, 6-7, 6-3 victory and clinch the team win.

After surrendering the opening doubles point, Washington State (10-9) secured singles wins at No.'s 4-6.
Pang Jittakoat was first off at No. 4, winning 6-2, 6-4 over Kara Lin, while
Savanna Ly-Nguyen also posted a straight-set victory, defeating Emilee Astle 7-5, 6-2. It marked Ly-Nguyen's team-leading 14th singles victory this season against just two defeats.

At No. 5,
Melisa Ates completed a 6-4, 7-5 win over Madeline Wanlass as she picked up her 101st career singles win, one shy of Elizaveta Luzina, who currently holds third place on WSU's all-time list.

BYU (13-6) captured the opening doubles point with wins on courts 2 and 3. On court 1, Ates and
Hikaru Sato came away with a 6-3 victory over BYU's Abramyan and Helen Jiao. BYU then earned singles wins at the top three spots to secure the team victory
