NEW YORK – Washington State rebounded from a heartbreaking loss Sunday to defeat Fordham University 7-0 Monday morning at the Dick Savitt Tennis Center on the Columbia campus.

With the win the Cougars improve to 8-2 on the season while Fordham falls to 3-6.

The day began with doubles as the Cougars dominated at No. 1 where
Melisa Ates and
Yang Lee posted a 6-0 victory over Avery Aude and Genevieve Quenville.
Hikaru Sato and
Carla Quadflieg clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 2 over Valeriya Deminova and Nicole Li. The match at No. 3 was stopped as
Pang Jittakoat and
Jovana Knezevic were tied 5-5 with Fordham's Arian Taluyenko and Maia Balce.

In singles play, the Cougars did not drop a set in sweeping all six matches. At No. 1, Sato defeat Taluyenko 6-4, 6-2 while
Savanna Ly-Nguyen needed a first-set tiebreaker to defeat Deminova, 7-6 (4), 6-3. At No. 3, Ates, ranked No. 107 nationally, cruised past Blace, 6-2, 6-4.

Jittakoat, who saved multiple match points before winning in three sets Sunday at Columbia, had no trouble Monday in defeating Aude, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4. Lee posted a 6-2, 6-4 win over Quenville at No. 5 while Quadflieg improved to 3-0 in dual matches this season with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 6 over Li.
