PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State football's Will Overstreet and soccer's Kelis Barton have been named the Academic Services Student-Athletes of the Month for October 2020.

A redshirt-sophomore for the Cougs' football team, Overstreet is pursuing a degree in human development in his third year at Washington State. He is an active member of the Black Student Athlete Association and has also spent his time helping other student-athletes as a Peer Academic Counselor. In addition to his work in the classroom and on the field, Overstreet has given his time at the Cougs' annual Butch's Bash. Off the field, the defensive back has taken his talents into the musical realm spending time learning the Ukulele.

A leader both on and off the field, Barton is in her third year at Washington State where she is pursuing a degree in communications with a minor in psychology. The third-year defender is a founding member and the President of the Black Student Athlete Association and has represented the Cougs nationwide at various summits and conventions. She has been a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee executive board member and the Director of Communications for two years. For her work, Barton earned the university's Leadership Award and the Virginia E Thomas Scholarship as a sophomore. On the field, Barton has been a part of the most successful runs in Cougar soccer history, helping lead WSU to the College Cup in 2019.

Each month Washington State Academic Services honors a male and female student-athlete that demonstrates commitment to academics while participating in their sport.
