COUGS SET SIGHTS ON UW, NM INVITES
The Washington State Track and Field program continues the 2020 indoor season on the road this weekend, as the Cougars will go split squad to both the UW Invitational and to the New Mexico Team Invitational. The first group of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) regional rankings were released, Monday, Jan. 27, which saw the Cougar men ranked second overall in the West Region, and the WSU women also saw a top ten West Region ranking at number five overall.

Faimalie Sale led WSU in the weight throw as the redshirt freshman posted a PR of 56-feet 4 inches (17.19m) on the day, finishing second overall in the event. Sale's throw also sees her at ninth all-time in Washington State history in the event as well. Skyler Walton posted a win for the Cougars in the 60-meter dash, with a PR of 7.72 overall. Samantha King-Shaw picked up the victory in the 3000-meter race as she posted an overall time of 10:32.98 to lead the Cougs. Aislinn Overby took home first place in the high jump for WSU, posting a mark of 5-feet 5 3/4 inches (1.67m) to earn yet another win for the Cougars on the day. Daylon Hicks took home first place in the high jump, with a PR mark of 6-feet 7-inches (2.01m). Dillon Lionello turned in a solid performance in the shot put with a PR of 55-feet (16.76m) to take third overall. Troy Gingerich also notched a third place finish during the meet in the pole vault as he posted a mark of 15-feet 1-inch (4.60m). 

RED RAIDER INVITATIONAL
Charisma Taylor had herself a day to help anchor the Cougars, as she posted the best Washington State all-time mark in the triple jump at 43-feet 6 1/2 inches (13.27m), and is currently ranked fourth in the nation in the event as well. Taylor also went on to finish fifth overall in the 60-meter hurdles with her best time at 8.27 in the preliminary round. Stephanie Cho posted a PR in the 400-meter, recording a time of 54.48. Mitch Jacobson led the WSU men's squad, placing first overall in the high jump with a mark of 6-feet 11 3/4 inches (2.13m). Emmanuel "RayRay" Wells Jr. posted quality results in multiple events on the day, as he took fourth in the 60-meter dash at 6.69 seconds, and placed 10th overall in the 200-meter at 21.43 overall as well. Sam Brixey went on to place third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.81. Jacob Englar turned in a solid performance in the pole vault as he placed fifth overall with a PR of 17-feet 3/4 inch (5.20m).

The NCAA uses national descending order lists to determine the competitors for the 2020 Indoor Championships...these lists can be viewed at the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Track & Field Results Reporting System website (www.tfrrs.org)...the top 16 individuals and 12 relays will move on to compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships March 13-14 at Albuquerque, New Mexico (University of New Mexico host)...best marks for the Cougars throughout the 2020 indoor season can be found at www.wsucougars.com.
