T&F Competes at Red Raider Invitational

Mitch Jacobson and Charisma Taylor lead the Cougars at Texas Tech.

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Washington State University Track and Field program was in action Friday afternoon at the Red Raider Invitational where Mitch Jacobson and Charisma Taylor led the way for the Cougars. 

Taylor had herself a day to help anchor the Cougars, as she posted the best Washington State all-time mark in the triple jump at 43-feet 6 1/2 inches (13.27m), and is currently ranked fourth in the nation in the event as well. Taylor also went on to finish fifth overall in the 60-meter hurdles with her best time at 8.27 in the preliminary round. Stephanie Cho posted a PR in the 400-meter, recording a time of 54.48. Leonie Reuter placed fourth overall in the high jump with a mark of 5-feet 8 1/2 inches (1.74m), and Kreete Verlin finished sixth overall in the long jump at 20-feet 4 1/4 inches (6.20m) as well.

Jacobson led the WSU men's squad, placing first overall in the high jump with a mark of 6-feet 11 3/4 inches (2.13m). Emmanuel "RayRay" Wells Jr. posted quality results in multiple events on the day, as he took fourth in the 60-meter dash at 6.69 seconds, and placed 10th overall in the 200-meter at 21.43 overall as well. Sam Brixey went on to place third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.81. Brixey was in a tight race during the 60m hurdles finals as the winner from Arkansas posted a time of 7.795, and second place from Barton County CC finished at 7.799 overall. Jacob Englar turned in a solid performance in the pole vault as he placed fifth overall with a PR of 17-feet 3/4 inch (5.20m).
